STM Lottery resumed its 2023 edition of Sports Toto “Reading My Companion” Reading Programme. This initiative aimed to spread the joy of reading to 2,515 students from 20 micro-sized Chinese primary schools in rural areas of Penang, Perak, Pahang, and Johor.<\/p>\n
The reading programme was intended to cultivate a meaningful habit among students living in the rural areas who might have limited recreational choices.<\/p>\n
A dedicated team of STM Lottery staff volunteers started to embark on a journey to visit the 20 participating schools on 16 July 2023 to present the students with storybooks and also make contributions to the libraries of each participating school by donating a selection of captivating storybooks.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, to foster creative reading experiences, storytelling sessions will be conducted at the schools, encouraging students to embrace the magic of reading in an interactive manner.<\/p>\n
The participating schools would play an integral role in cultivating a reading community among their students. They would promote book exchanges, urging students to share stories in class and express their thoughts and reflections in personal journals. This collaborative approach would enhance the joy of reading and encourage the development of critical thinking and self-expression skills.<\/p>\n
In recognition of the students’ enthusiasm and dedication, STM Lottery also arranged tokens of commendation for 2 students from each of the participating schools who demonstrate exceptional participation.<\/p>\n
