Sports Toto “Reading My Companion” Reading Programme 2024

STM Lottery Sdn. Bhd. kick-started the 2024 edition of its Sports Toto “Reading My Companion” Reading Programme, marking the 11th year of this initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading among 1,374 primary students from 10 micro-sized Chinese schools in rural areas across Penang, Perak, Negri Sembilan and Johor.

This initiative is designed to instil the habit of reading among students who have limited recreational opportunities in rural settings. STM Lottery recognises the pivotal role of education in shaping a sustainable future and is proud to support this cause through its
corporate social responsibility efforts.

Starting from 23 July 2024, staff volunteers of STM Lottery visited the 10 participating schools to personally distribute carefully selected storybooks to students and enrich each school’s library with captivating additions. The programme also featured engaging storytelling sessions aimed at making reading a lively and interactive experience.

In addition, the participating schools actively fostered a reading community by encouraging book exchanges, classroom story-sharing and personal journaling to enhance critical thinking and self-expression among students.
